True divided light windows are also known as French panes. They have a thin piece of wood outlining each pane, and typically resemble a tic-tac-toe board. This type of window is commonly seen on older homes because of its historic background. However, the cleaning procedure is more difficult than modern style windows.
It’s more rigorous cleaning divided light windows because you can’t clean the surface in one swipe. Because the panes block off individual sections of the window, it becomes time consuming. However, simulated divided light windows are an upgrade from the true divided light windows; they give the same historic appeal, without the negative aspects of permanent panes. Whether cleaning the true divided light or simulated windows, a water-fed pole is needed. The pole uses purified water to leave the glass streak-free.
